What is GFXBench?

GFXBench : Simple-to-use 3D graphics benchmark application that features several types of tests, results analysis and comparison, as well as exporting options

In depth

A closer look at GFXBench

GFXBench is a comprehensive benchmarking application that comes packed with several 3D tests to help you test the hardware capabilities of your computer's graphical card. It is very simple install and use.

Sign up for an account to unlock some features

The program is completely free. However, in order to access previously generated results from any place in the world and tinker with some settings, you are invited to sign up for an account by specifying an email and password.

Run multiple benchmarks and analyze results

When it comes to the performance tests, you can opt for high-level ones (Manhattan, T-Rex), low-level ones (ALU2, Driver Overhead and Texturing) or special tests to determine the render quality your graphics card supports. Running GFXBench on a laptop also activates the battery test, which is grayed-out otherwise. In a separate section you can find out the purpose of each benchmark and how it works. It is possible to select one or more tests to run at a time. This starts with the click of a button, and results show the number of total frames, along with the frames per second rate/

System information and other options

As far as program options are concerned, you can examine some system information (e.g. CPU core name, device vendor name, screen size, height and width, version), as well as clear user information and ask for a new one. Those who logged in with a GFXBench account are given the possibility to upload results and access them from any location, enable a FPS counter during benchmarks, and save the results to Excel spreadsheets.

Evaluation and conclusion

Evidently, the app puts a lot of strain on computer performance when executing benchmarks, which is normal. It has a good response time and doesn't take too long to carry out these tests. We have not come across any stability difficulties in our evaluation because it did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. Thanks to its intuitive interface and options, GFXBench can be used by anyone with ease.
