Z-VSScopy provides you with the means to manage the Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) system of your computer and delete shadow copies you no longer need, so as to free up storage space on your NTFS-formatted hard discs. In other words, it offers a different way to tamper with restore points in Windows.

Limit the storage space reserved for VSS snapshots

While the application is mostly created for experienced users, its interface is intuitive, posing no problems. Z-VSScopy extracts information concerning all the hard discs your computer comes equipped with, their total and free size and the space occupied by the VSS restore points.You can limit the storage space that Windows assigns to snapshots or reserve no space for VSS images. Alternatively, the VSS service can also be disabled for specific partitions, but note that all snapshots must be deleted beforehand. Disabling restore points in Windows and limiting storage space can also be done from the System Properties in Windows.

Manage shadow copies and restore individual files

Z-VSScopy comes in handy if you want to view a list of all the created shadow copies, a feature that is not available in Windows. What's more important, you can explore the content of a snapshot and export individual files with a single click. Therefore, if you accidentally deleted a file, you can restore it with ease.Shadow copies can also be erased or mounted in Windows with the push of a button. From the same tab, you can create new shadow copies and restore points. The VSS service can be stopped and started with Z-VSScopy.

Z-DBackup or Z-DATdump plugin to allow the management of locked files

Z-VSScopy can be deployed both as a standalone application and a plugin for Z-DBackup or Z-DATdump. In the latter case, it grants its host applications the right to create backups for files that are locked by Windows or other programs.With its help, you can keep track of system changes and easily retrieve old versions of files, without having to revert to a restore point. In other words, it enables you to restore exactly what you need and not restore the entire Windows system.
