TextSweep provides batch search and replace capabilities inside an application that is very easy to use. It mainly targets programmers or other types of users who are working with multiple files at the same time, and need a way to modify their content quickly.

Select the target folder and explore its contents

The installation process is uneventful and you should be able to launch TextSweep in no time. The main window is surprisingly simple, having intuitive options and fields. There is a button in the toolbar that enables you to select the target folder and, as you do so, the complete path of the chosen directory will be displayed in the dedicated text field.You will notice that TextSweep cannot recursively search subdirectories. It only reveals the files inside the currently selected folder, which is an important drawback.

Batch search and replace within multiple files of a specific type

TextSweep is configured to show the entire content of the directory in its file list, but it also enables you to filter the data. The file extension is the only criteria but, on the bright side, the application comes with support for a wide range of formats. On the other hand, it is not possible to set file exceptions.There are two dedicated fields for filling in the term to search for, as well as the string to replace it with. TextSweep performs a search within all the files in the list and highlights the search word that will be replaced. To apply the changes, all you have to do is press a button. Luckily, there is an undo option in case you change your mind.

Batch search and replace without a hassle

There is no doubt that TextSweep might be a handy utility for those who want to parse multiple files and replace certain strings inside them. Nevertheless, the application can be further improved, and small glitches, such as the non-adjustable layout (you cannot resize panels and resizing the entire window might hide some of its elements) should be taken care of.
