Folders are responsible for helping you keep the computer clean and organized. In fact, the computer would be a total mess if it wasn’t for folders. Windows only lets you create one at a time, but if you need a complex structure created fast, you can rely on specialized applications like Folder Maker.

Create regular folders or from existing lists

On launch, the application brings up a compact main window that gives you direct access to all the features you get to work with. A few drop-down menus here and there, several fields for name and quantity values, and there’s even the possibility to load a list defining the complexity and structures of folders you want to create.There are multiple types of elements you can create. The dedicated drop-down menu lets you select from normal or CSV folders, as well as normal or CSV files. The CSV trait means you can import existing lists under the TXT format so that the application can create structure according to it.

Good, but far from being a pro

Naming options give you the possibility to add prefix and suffix, as well as whether or not to enumerate them, with a field to insert the starting value. You can also choose to pad zeros in case the total amount exceeds ten.As mentioned above, the application can also create files, but these are of zero size, which put practicality under the question mark. What’s more, the folder counterpart can only be used to generate folders inside a source directory, but with no option to define structure or create subfolders. Even if the list is loaded from a CSV file, the same output is obtained no matter what.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Folder Maker comes with good intentions, letting you create a large list of directories with custom names, and from an existing list as well. However, practicality has a lot to suffer from the lack of options to create entire structures, while the file creation option isn’t fitted with a function to specify size.
