In depth

A closer look at LuxMark

Based on LuxCoreRender, LuxMark is a cross-platform benchmarking tool for OpenCL, giving you the possibility to run benchmarks and stress tests when it comes to the CPU and GPU. Wrapped in a user-friendly interface, the app comes bundled with practical features.Installing LuxMark isn't necessary since you can unzip the downloaded archive and just double-click the .exe to gain access to the main app window right away. Also, you can keep the utility stored in your collection of portable software and fire it up whenever you need to test OpenCL systems, ideal for IT specialists.

Run benchmarks on OpenCL systems

As far as the GUI is concerned, LuxMark has a standard window and simple layout, where the tests can be executed from the menu bar. Your system configuration is autodetected at startup, so you can check out technical details about your CPU, GPU and accelerators, such as platform, maximum global memory, compute units, and preferred vector width.Meanwhile, the bottom side of the window is reserved for log info. The program can be instructed to run benchmarks for OpenCL GPUs only, CPUs only, both GPUs and CPUs, selected devices only, or Native C++. Stress tests can be performed too, along with benchmarks for LuxVR devices (OpenCL GPUs).

Select the test mode and preferred scene

Furthermore, you can choose one of three scenes for running tests. As far as OpenCL compiler options go, you can enable or disable -cl-fast-relaxed-math, -cl-mad-enable, -cl-no-signed-zeros and -cl-strict-aliasing.As the end of the test, you receive a score together with information about the stressed devices, such as testing mode, scene name, file and image validation status. The result can be submitted to LuxMark.info but this requires a valid account.Taking into account the straightforward options, LuxMark provides OpenCL users with a simple solution for testing the CPUs, GPUs and other devices. It worked smoothly on Windows 10 in our evaluation.
