Luckily, you can track changes to files with FileChecker, alerting you immediately so you can take action.

Select file parameters to check

The application doesn’t target a specific kind of file, so you’re free to monitor anything on your computer. Unfortunately, the core function only applies to files, so you manually have to pick those of interest, but there’s an option to add an entire folder to the list.Depending on your needs, there’s the possibility to configure some advanced features to include in the scan process. For instance, the application can include checksum checking on CRC32, CRC16, CRC-CCITT. This makes sure that even changes in contained code are tracked.

Various security and alert options

Just so nobody can disable the automated check, you can use a built-in feature to lock the application process, letting it run even if the main window is closed. What’s more, you can set up a password so only you have access to its set of features.By default, FileChecker only saves detected changes in a log file. However, it’s possible to configure different alert types, ranging from pop-up messages for attribute, checksum, or deletion changes, to emails alerts through a SMTP client.The log of events can be accessed at any given moment, and you can save it to file for analysis. Furthermore, important files can all be bundled in a list, which you can then export and later on load for further inspection. Sadly, the application cannot be used over LAN on other computers.
