Overview

What is SpaceWatch?

SpaceWatch : Find out which files, folders or applications are taking up the most space on your local drives in real-time via this intuitive utility

In depth

A closer look at SpaceWatch

If you want to clean up your hard disk and free up some space on the local drives, then there is a fair chance that you want to do a quick search and find out what are the biggest files and folders that eat up the most storage. While it is true that you can perform the query in Windows Explorer, there are numerous disk-visualizing programs out there than can be more convenient.SpaceWatch is an application that enables you to get a general view of the files and directories that take up the most space on your computer in real-time.

Comes with a rugged, Java-based interface

First off, you should know that you need to have Java installed on your computer, as otherwise you cannot access the tool. The program comes with an outdated and unpolished interface, yet it is intuitive and can guide you during the drive exploration. The application allows you to view the occupied space on your drives and displays the data as percentages. You can dig deeper and determine the files and folders that take up the most space by clicking on the desired box labels. You can go back to the main window and explore other local or external drives by accessing the One Level Up button.

Allows you to view files, but you cannot delete them

The advantage of the utility is the fact that it enables you to view the largest files in real-time. Consequentially, if you delete a directory or a large file and switch back to the application, you can preview other large files that might be a candidate for wiping.Unfortunately, the occupied space data is only available in the main window, so the app does not provide you with more details as in how much space a certain file or folders occupies on the drive. In addition, since the utility is continuously scanning for modifications, it may respond slightly sluggish when you access directories.Lastly, you should know that the app only allows you preview the data, but does not provide you with the tools to delete them. Therefore, you can use other third-party applications to wipe data from your drives.

A simple tool that displays files in real time

All in all, if you want to free up some space on your drives by deleting files that take up too much space, then SpaceWatch can help you identify the largest files.
