Looking for similar files in multiple locations can be a pain. However, you might want to keep a couple of directories synchronized so one of them is always updated with latest changes in files. As such, DSH Directory Comparator wants to help you find the differences in two folders and synchronize with little effort.

Different compare modes

Once installed, you can go ahead and launch it to see what it’s all about. The first impression is decent, with a variety of sound and visual effects for nearly all actions you perform. The visual design is intuitive enough to help beginners and experienced individuals accommodate in the blink of an eye.By default you’re placed inside the directory scan mode, with the possibility to also scan files for text lines, as well as MP3 files. Regardless of the mode, you need to choose the two items of interest. Whereas for directories, the job can be a little tricky because the browse dialog you rely on doesn’t include special folders or libraries.

Selection and file operations

The scan process doesn’t take long, and a couple of panels are fitted with detected items. You can clearly see what files are missing from both directories. There’s no context menu for quick operations, but you do get the chance to select multiple files, and choose to copy, move, delete, or synchronize both folders.Selection is also possible from the upper menu, where you find more actions than manually going through content of folders. As such, you can easily choose missing, larger, smaller, or based on time and date options. Sadly, the application doesn’t come with an option to set a scheduler for the synchronization process.

In conclusion, DSH Directory Comparator puts a bit more effort in visual effects than actual practicality. Comparing two folders requires little effort on your behalf, with different selection options available, including file operations or complete synchronization of the two folders.
