What is HD Workbench?
HD Workbench : S.M.A.R.T disk monitoring, read/write test and cloning
In depth
A closer look at HD Workbench
HD Workbench will allow you to diagnose and test your hard disk(s) using S.M.A.R.T and several read-only and read/write surface tests. In read/writemode bad sectors will be replaced by healthy sectors from what is known as the "spare sector pool&quData can be evacuated from failing disks by making an an exact sector by sector clone of the failing drive. Individual volumes can be backed up to raw image files and the MBR and individual boot sectors can also be backed up and restored. Here are some key features of "HD Workbench":?? Test hard drive health using S.M.A.R.T. and surface tests?? Obtain hard disk temperature?? Ability to 're-map' unreadable sectors?? Creation and restoration of raw and truncated image files?? Disk to disk copy (physical disks)?? MBR backup/restore?? Boot sector backup/restore?? FAT, FAT32 and NTFS file system support?? Easy integration to the Windows boot menu and safe mode?? Ability to assign a drive letter to image filesRequirements:?? S.M.A.R.T. (IDE) capable hard drive?? Administrative rights?? Destination for image files needs to be NTFS (2)Limitations:HD Workbench requires a disk to already be partitioned when restoring image files: ?? If you for example desire to restore an image containing and NTFS partition, you must select an already existing NTFS partition where the image should be restored to.?? Those destination drives must match the size and the file system. There's only one exception: NTFS image files can be restored to NTFS drives that are larger than the original partition that was 'imaged'.HD Workbench doesn't compress image files (yet)?? Image files become either the size of the partition being imaged, or, the size of the partition upto the last used cluster.Help is unavailable when running HD Workbench in safe mode!30 days trial period
