Dexadine's CRC Tool is a tiny and portable piece of kit that features simple and straightforward options for generating and testing the file CRCs. It doesn't integrate complicated settings, so it can be handled by all types of users.

Portability benefits

Since there is no setup pack involved, you can save the executable file anywhere on the disk and just click it to launch Dexadine's CRC Tool. Otherwise, you can save it to a pen drive to directly run it on any PC with minimum effort. Unlike most installers, it doesn't modify the Windows registry configuration.

Intuitive interface and options

The GUI is rather user-friendly, based on a single window with a clear-cut structure that shows all options available. The tool generates CRCs for multiple files at the same time, so you can indicate a base directory.

Generate and test CRCs

After specifying the test type (Triple Interlaced CRC, Standard ISO CRC, or file size only), you can apply file filters or take all items into account, and click a button to proceed.As far as CRC tests are concerned, you can ask the app to log missing, changed and successful, along with newer and older files. It's possible to examine the test type, file types and count, total bytes, along with the date and time of completion.

Evaluation and conclusion

The tool performed smoothly in our tests, without hanging, crashing or showing errors. It left a small footprint on system resources, using low CPU and RAM. Although it hasn't been updated for a long time, Dexadine's CRC Tool seems to work well on later operating systems.
