In depth

A closer look at Green Point Launcher

Having a crowded desktop isn’t all that fun, especially if you want the desktop background to be filled with cool pictures you want to see in full detail. Luckily, developers came out with tons of different applications like Green Point Launcher, which let you create organized groups of shortcuts that hide automatically when not needed.

Create multiple shortcut groups

Before you get to check out the set of features, it’s best to make sure your computer is fitted with .NET Framework, because it’s a required component for proper functionality. On launch, the program brings up a sample group you can work on, or create your own. Just so it doesn’t take up too much space, the application quietly sits in the system tray. The way the application works is by letting you create custom groups, in which to add shortcuts for all programs you need to launch. Each group is defined by a header, and can be fitted with an unlimited number of slots. When a slot is created, you simply need to drag the target shortcut over it to add it to your group.

Good, but far from being a pro

However, slots don’t stick to the header, which means creating more groups can be a bit confusing, since headers and slots can be moved independently. On the other hand, the application bundles a few customization options, letting you change color, font, and text of headers, to make groups easily identifiable.Sadly, the application only allows you to add shortcuts and executables, without the possibility to include folders, text documents, pictures, and other items. When idle for a while, a header along with all of its shortcut slots disappears, and comes back again when the cursor goes over that area. You can make them stay on top by double-clicking a group header.

To sum it up

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Green Point Launcher might not be exactly what you expected from a launcher, since shortcuts are still visible in a similar manner to the default Windows method. However, you can create organized groups, which can only become visible when needed.
