Alternate Splitter is a useful tool for any user who wishes to split a file or merge several documents into a single one. The tool is simple to use, features a friendly interface and allows you to select the destination folder.

Split a file into several segments

Alternate Splitter allows you to easily divide a file into several fragments, based on its size. The program allows you to load an entire list for splitting, but it can only process the first one. Alternatively, to obtain clearer results, you can add only a single file to the list, for splitting.You need to select the size of the fragments, from the drop down menu, which offers you several options expressed in KiloBytes, before starting the process. Moreover, you can enable the “Ask for next file” option, which notifies you before processing a new file in the list. The source files can be arranged in the desired order or you may remove the unnecessary ones.

Merge several types of files

Alternate Splitter allows you to combine the files added to the list, into a single document. For this task, the program can process all the files you load to the list. The result can be found in the selected destination folder.

Results of the file splitting/merging

Alternate Splitter can save the files to the specified path, with a generic *.file extension, unless you enter the name and format of the output file in the dedicated field. Even if the result is what you expected, you still need to convert it to the desired format.In case of merging files, you need to make sure that they are of the same type and that they can be easily combined. For instance, merging text files can be successfully performed, but combining photos may not yield the result you expect. Similarly, when splitting a file you cannot preview the result, choose the format or mark the desired segments.
