DDCopy : Successfully copy files that are currently being used, such as some system files or malware tools, with the help of this intuitive program
DDCopy is lightweight and portable tool you can use to copy files from one location to another by directly accessing the items. This means that it's also capable of copying objects that are currently used, such as some Windows files or malware tools. It puts a file explorer at your disposal.
Portability advantages
The entire program's wrapped in a single .exe file that you can copy to a preferred directory on the disk or on a USB flash drive, in order to seamlessly run it on any PC without previous installers. It doesn't need DLLs to run, create files on the disk without asking for permission, or make any changes to the system registry.
Built-in folder explorer for file copy operations
The interface of DDCopy is simple and straightforward, enabling you to navigate disk directories and select the files you want to copy after examining their name, size, format and date of last modification. This can be done by opening the file's right-click menu and by specifying the destination. Moreover, you can view the hexadecimal code of a file and edit it, as well as analyze the file's clusters. There are no other notable options available. Unfortunately, it's not capable of copying multiple files at the same time.
Evaluation and conclusion
Files were quickly copied in our tests. The utility worked smoothly, without freezing or crashing. However, it showed an error dialog whenever we attempted to open the context menu on the window instead of a selected file.We must also take into account DDCopy hasn't received updates for a long time and likely has compatibility issues with later Windows editions. Otherwise, it gets the job done and can be used with ease by anyone looking to successfully copy files that are currently used by the system.
