Overview

What is Double-Clicker?

Double-Clicker : Use buttons on your keyboard to replicate single or double-clicks for enhanced accessibility, suitable for a faulty or difficult to use mouse

In depth

A closer look at Double-Clicker

Until voice commands or other methods of interacting with your computer widely spread throughout the world and become practical, the keyboard and mouse remain the main methods of input. They are daily stressed out and must withstand pressure and put up with various individuals. Dedicated to the mouse, Double-Clicker comes as a small utility that lets you trigger mouse buttons through keyboard hotkeys.

Quietly sits in the system tray

The application comes in an incredibly light package and quickly gets deployed on your system. Resource consumption is not something to worry about, meaning it is able to run on a large variety of configurations. All you need to do is run it, check the attributed keys and take it out for a spin. With no interface whatsoever, the application quietly sits in your system tray until closed. Sadly, there's no implemented function to make it run on startup in case you find it useful.

Work with preset hotkeys

Furthermore, the application is built with all features set to a specific value, with no options to manage anything, but only view and use functions. This is a big disappointment because hotkeys used to replicate mouse buttons are automatically set, without a selection screen if you don't consider default ones practical. Moreover, only the left mouse button benefits from hotkeys, again lacking any configurable settings. You are able to trigger either a single or double click, as the name suggests, and nothing more. It might prove useful if running it on a laptop, but practicality is still questionable.

Far from being a pro

The idea behind the concept isn't new, however useful it may be. It's sad to see such a shallow set of features, considering it works over any application you are running, even video games. On the other hand, you can't completely rely on it because it only becomes active once you reach the desktop, so if your mouse is completely damaged and you need to click inside the login screen, you're on your own.

To sum it up

All things considered, we come to the conclusion that Double-Clicker, although providing enhanced accessibility, practicality is almost completely cut out because of the poor set of features it puts at your disposal. It perfectly works with any running instance on your PC, but you are limited to a single button and predefined keys you need to get accustomed with.
