Before you know it, the hard disk drive of a computer gets filled with various files, more or less important. Looking for a particular file becomes a time-consuming process, unless using applications like SwiftSearch. It is a lightweight utility that promises to find any desired item in the blink of an eye.

Search for files on any disk drive

In terms of design, the user interface is kept to a minimum, making it as straightforward as possible. A text field is provided where you input the file name or extension, and hitting the “Search” button reveals the result almost instantly.If multiple volumes are created for your hard disk drive, these can be selected for the process to be done there. However, you can only choose one volume at a time or all of them.

Good but far from being a pro

As far as functionality is concerned, not more than the options mentioned above are available. There is no implemented function that allows you to conduct an advanced search, with no conditions to set before putting the process in motion.Furthermore, sorting options are limited to what column titles suggest, name, directory, size and several date specific criteria. In order to initiate a new search operation, you need to run the application again. It can be kept in the system tray through the Escape button on your keyboard, but with the lack of integrated hotkeys to quickly bring it up, you need to keep the main window up to check out results, or configure other settings.

A few last words

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that SwiftSearch is not the most comfortable utility with which to conduct search operations. Reaction speed is flawless, but it tends to get a little rough around the edges due to several missing features.
