Restrictions Lifter is a clear-cut tool designed to quickly re-enable some Windows features that were deactivated for various reasons, such as malware infections.It doesn't include complicated options or configuration settings, making it accessible to all types of users, even those less experienced with computers in general.

No setup required, besides .NET Framework

The whole program's packed in a single .exe file that can be copied to any part of the disk or to a USB flash drive, in order to easily run Restrictions Lifter on any computer with minimum effort. However, .NET Framework must be installed, since it was developed with the aid of this platform. It doesn't create files on the disk without asking for permission, though.

Simple GUI and settings

As far as the interface is concerned, the utility opts for a simple window with a plain appearance and neatly structured layout, where you can enable Registry Editor, Task Manager, Folder Options and the right-click menu on the desktop with one click. Alternatively, you can opt for the automatic mode, which activates all of them at once.

How it works

Folder Options is the only setting out of the four that requires you to restart the computer to apply the new changes. Because it's included in the automatic mode, this also needs a system reboot.Moreover, administrative privileges must be applied when launching the application, in order to avoid error popups when attempting to enable Folder Options and the auto mode. For the other three settings, the tool commits modifications swiftly and shows a notification message to let you know the task's successfully completed.

Evaluation and conclusion

It worked smoothly in our tests and left a small footprint on system resources consumption. Taking into account its straightforward features, Restrictions Lifter can be used by anyone who wants to effortlessly enable Windows tools.
