pixelkey : Automate certain key presses fast and easy based on the changes in colors certain pixels on the screen have while using the computer
Automated mouse movement and keyboard command apps have flooded the market, each of them promising to be smarter and smarter, enabling the PC to take over repetitive task while you are away, or in front of the PC with no will to do the job yourself. One such application is pixelkey, which can be used to set keyboard commands to perform certain actions when particular pixels or pixel areas reach a certain color.
An app with a common use that uses a rarely seen twist
While there may be plenty of other similar apps out there, few of them manage to capture the color value of a single pixel, instead of being limited to selecting a larger area an detect changes in color. The problem, however, is that they are programmed to ignore changes that happen over small areas (like in our case, the color change of a single pixel)Manually input the command value for precise measureUsing the app is pretty intuitive once you figure out what all the digits mean. An example of a good script is "Checks screen x=189 y=211 every 1000 to 2000 milliseconds; If the pixel at given coordinates is equal to the color given, it presses 66(B key) for 100 milliseconds. This precision makes the app good for when you are away from the PC and is not affected at all by random mouse movements, unless of course, the cursor ends up over the targeted pixel, thus changing its color. The data values that you need to input vary depending on the hardware, for example, the number of pixels your monitor has.
A good solution for when you need automated responses for the smallest changes
While there are plenty of other tools out there that do the same job as pixelkey, it can nonetheless be used as an alternative if you prefer precision work over advanced scripting.
