SearchFilterView : Displays all the search filters and file extensions installed on a system, as well as it allows you to easily add or remove file extensions for these filters.
An IFilter is a plugin that allows Microsoft's search engines to index various file formats like documents, email attachments, database records, audio metadata, etc; so that they become searchable. Without an appropriate IFilter, contents of a file cannot be parsed and indexed by the search engine. If you want to monitor and manage the filters SearchFilterView can lend you a helping hand.
Installation and GUI
The program doesn't require installation at all, after the extraction it can instantly run. This means that no registry files or any leftovers are created on your computer. Also, you can upload it a CD/DVD or a USB flash drive and used it on any system necessary.The vintage-looking interface contains two panes: the upper pane displays the list of all installed filters. When selecting a filter in the top pane, the lower pane shows the list of all extensions associated with the selected filter in the upper window.
Manually add or remove filters
When selecting a filter, you can choose one or more extensions in the lower pane and then press F8 (Remove Selected Extensions From Filter) to remove the selected extensions. You can also select F7 (Add Extensions To Filter) and then type the list of extensions that you want to add to the selected filters.
Compatible with multiple clients
SearchFilterView can work with several environments that support IFilters: MSN Desktop Search, Internet Information Server, SharePoint Portal Server, Windows SharePoint Services (WSS), Site Server, Exchange Server, SQL Server and all other products based on Microsoft Search technology support indexing technology. Also, IFilters are used by SQL as a component of the SQL Server Full-Text Search service.
