UC Search is a small-sized application designed to help you list all files from a specified directory, as well as to apply file masks. It doesn't include complicated options or customization properties, making it accessible to all types of users, even the ones inexperienced with such software.

No installation necessary

The entire tool's packed in a single .exe file that can be saved anywhere on the disk or copied to a removable storage unit, in order to seamlessly launch it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.It doesn't have software requirements, create files on the disk without letting you know about it, or integrate new entries into the system registry. To get rid of it, you simply have to delete this entry.

List all files or filter them by name or extension

The interface is user-friendly, represented by a small window with a plain and simple structure, giving you an overview of all options put at your disposal. You can resort to the built-in folder explorer to navigate disk directories and pick a folder to scan.If you leave the file mask unchanged, the tool shows the full path of all files found in the respective directory. However, you can filter them by name or extension, as well as include the hidden files in the scanning operation.

Where it falls short

The number of total results is displayed too. Apart from the fact that you can select and copy full paths to the Clipboard, there are no other notable options implemented by this tool.Unfortunately, the application window cannot be resized to be able to view the entire folder paths. On top of that, UC Search doesn't integrate additional practical options, such as exporting the list of results to file or opening targets in Windows Explorer.

Evaluation and conclusion

Scanning operations were quickly conducted in our tests, during which the app had minimal impact on the computer's performance, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't hang or crash.On the other hand, UC Search comes bundled with a poor set of features and doesn't make room for customization, making it difficult to handle. Nevertheless, you can test it for yourself.
