Folder Tree Clone : Have a folder structure always ready to be copied to any location of your choice by creating a context menu entry for an easy paste operation
Having to transfer multiple files and folders to different locations isn’t really a difficult task, but the default method Windows provides isn’t the only one. For instance, Folder Tree Clone comes as a lightweight tool which you place wherever you wish to copy content from, adding a context menu entry to easily paste anywhere.
Can be used on the go
The application itself requires no installation to function, which means it can also be placed on a thumb drive in case you wish to carry it around and use on other computers. Registry entries aren’t affected, but a new entry is created because it integrates in the context menu, but it does also offer the possibility to remove it at the press of a button. The core purpose of the application is to enhance transfers of entire directory structures. For this operation to be successful, you need to place the executable in the source directory, and choose to add it to the context menu from the menu option. Once added, it creates a direct connection to clone the source folder anywhere you choose.
Good, but far from being a pro
It gets integrated in any Explorer context menu. As such, pasting with this option copies the entire structure of the host folder the the location of your choice. When done, you can easily remove the context menu entry. To have a different folder structure copied, you need to move or copy the executable there.Unfortunately, this proves to be a more time-consuming copy operation than what Windows provides by default. It would have been useful to see ways to set up file filters, or have access to content of the source folder inside the created context menu entry.
A few last words
Bottom line is that file transfer operations aren’t really enhanced by Folder Tree Clone. It only offers a different approach on the situation by preventing the clipboard to stay occupied with a specific entry, making a folder always ready to be sent to any location.
