TimeSort : Quickly sort all files from a directory by date of creation or last modification using their days or months to create new folders
TimeSort is a lightweight and portable tool you can use to sort files into different folders by date of creation or last modification using days or months. It features just a handful of options that even less experienced users can tinker with.
Portable tool with a simple interface
Installation isn't necessary, as you can run the app by double-clicking the downloaded .exe file. It doesn't change system registry settings or generate files on the disk without letting you know about it.It's packed in a decent-looking interface made from one panel that displays all settings. After pointing out the directory of the source files, it's necessary to specify a destination.
Creates new and sorted files by date of creation or modification
It's important to mention that TimeSort doesn't modify the attributes of the original data. Instead, it creates new ones in the specified output folder, so you don't have to worry about building backups in case you're not pleased with the outcome. On the other hand, this might take its toll on disk space, depending on the size of the files. The items can be organized by either date of creation or last modification using the files' day or month. Once the procedure is over, you can check out the full path of all processed entries in the control panel, as well as open the destination directory in Windows Explorer to verify results.
Modest file sorter with limited customization
TimeSort performed operations swiftly in our evaluation and remained stable in its runtime without causing any compatibility issues on newer Windows editions. Since it's lightweight, it's no wonder that it uses low CPU and RAM.On the other hand, TimeSort doesn't make room for customization, such as filtering files in the source folder by extension, tinkering with the sorting criteria to edit name patterns, or previewing results.
