Doc Viewer is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help you check out the content of various help formats and open images and XAML files.

Supported file formats

The utility gives you the possibility to work with different file formats, such as GIF, PNG, JPG, HDP, BMP, TIFF, DIB, XAMLHELPZ, XAMLHELP, XAP, APK, ANDROIDHELPZ, XPS, XAML, and XAMLDOC.

Clean looks

The tool comes with support for a multi-tabbed environment so you can easily open different documents and switch between them. You can add files in the main window using the built-in browse button (you cannot rely on the drag-and-drop support).

Open and read help data

The GUI is intuitive and allows you to explore the information included in help files, namely index, glossary and topics. In addition, you can create a list with favorite items, find and replace words, as well as carry out basic editing tasks (cut, copy, paste, delete).What’s more, you are allowed to zoom in or out of the file, go to the previous or next page, and perform searches throughout the document.

Create new files

Doc Viewer lets you generate new documents, namely rich text, XAML or plain text files. The built-in text editor is basic and provides support only for spell checking options. The text can be typed directly in the main window or pasted from the clipboard.We have tested the application on Windows 8.1 Pro and come across several crashes. The tool eats up CPU and memory so the overall performance of the computer may be hampered.

All things considered, Doc Viewer provides basic features for helping you open help documents and image files. However, it still needs improvements regarding its functionality.
