ZPL Converter is a small-sized and portable software tool whose only purpose is to convert Zune playlist files (ZPL format) into types compatible with Winamp and other similar applications, namely M3U and PLS. It does not come packed with complicated options, making it ideal for all types of users, even the ones with little or no previous experience in computer software.Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can drop the program files in any location on the hard disk and just click the EXE file to run. There is also the possibility of saving ZPL Converter to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort, as long as it has .NET Framework installed.What's more, the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, and no extra files are created on the HDD without the user's consent, leaving it clean after program removal.The interface is represented by a small frame with a simple structure, where you can point out a ZPL file using the file browser only, since the drag-and-drop function is not supported.So, all you have to do is specify the output destination, format and file name, in order to proceed with the conversion procedure. You should be careful with the file names, though, as ZPL Converter automatically overwrites existing items without asking for permission. Unfortunately, the batch conversion button does the same thing as the conversion one, since you cannot specify multiple ZPL items to convert at the same time.ZPL Converter carries out tasks almost instantly and without errors. It did not cause Windows to hang, crash or pop up error messages throughout our evaluation. We have not come across any issues. Although it is not a resourceful tool, ZPL Converter delivers a straightforward solution when it comes to creating M3U and PLS playlists from ZPL.
