Startup managers help us control the applications which automatically run at Windows boot, whether the goal is to fasten the applications' runtime or boost computer startup speed, depending on our preferences.Startup Application is such a program. Wrapped in a plain and simple interface, the tool contains only the essential options needed to add a new app to the Windows autorun sequence or to remove existing ones. It does not require installation and can be used by one, since previous experience with startup managers is not required.

Portability perks

As there is no setup involved, you can drop the executable file in any part of the hard disk and just click it to run. Another possibility is to save Startup Application to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC effortlessly and without previous installers.Unlike most installers, Startup Application does not integrate its own entries in the Windows registry (except for the autorun keys), nor create additional files on the disk without permission, thus leaving no traces behind once it is removed.

Simplistic interface and options

You can get started by pointing out the full path of the tool whose entry you want to add or remove from the autorun sequence, by using the regular file browser. Unfortunately, the drag-and-drop method which would have simplified this task is not supported by Startup Application.In case you want to add a new registry entry, you can set the program to run only once (at the next Windows startup) or on a regular basis until it is manually removed. The changes are applicable with the click of a button. There are no other settings available here.

Evaluation and conclusion

There were no kind of issues in our tests, since Startup Application did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. It has a good response time to commands and works well, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or pop up error messages. Its simple interface and options may not be to the liking of some users, but Startup Application gets the job done, proving to be a reliable and straightforward startup manager.
