Delete On Boot : A lightweight and user-friendly application whose only purpose is that of automatically deleting specified files on Windows reboot
Some important system files can’t be regularly deleted in order to keep your operating system intact. However, this is also a common practice for malicious files, with a high chance they’re impossible to delete, without being able to identify the related process. Luckily, Delete On Boot wants to help you get rid of this sort of issues with a simple PC restart operation.
Can be used on the go
One of its main advantages it’s flexibility. With no installation required, the application can easily be transferred on a thumb drive, and used wherever necessary. Apart from this flexibility, the application makes to changes to registry entries, so you don’t have to worry about affecting system stability, unless you delete the wrong files. The way in which the application works is to brutally raise its own startup priority to above everything, so that it can delete the target file before its corresponding process can start. This is a powerful way of removing malicious software components, which just keep on launching with Windows, even if configured otherwise.
Only one file can be processed at a time
It doesn’t take longer than a few seconds to finish the process, excluding the restart itself. Unfortunately, you can only process one file at a time, with loading done only from the built-in browse dialog, since drag and drop is not supported. It would have been useful for the application to at least integrate into the context menu. On the other hand, there’s a way to bypass this by simply assigning a hotkey to the shortcut to launch it instantly whenever needed. Restart, however, needs to be manually triggered, because you’re not offered to do so right away.
To sum it up
All things considered, Delete On Boot is a straightforward application you can use to get rid of files which stubbornly refuse to delete, or keep appearing after startup. Sadly, this needs to be done one file at a time, but it’s worth a try overall, being able to remove locked files, and it’s also portable.
