Terminator is a tiny and portable application that comes packed with straightforward options to help you turn off the computer at a sharp date and time. It's geared toward all types of users, even those unskilled with this kind of software.

No installation required

The entire program's wrapped in just one .exe file that you can drop to a custom location on the hard drive or move to a removable storage device, in order to seamlessly run Terminator on any machine without previous setup.It doesn't add new entries to your system registry, create files on the computer without asking for permission, or need libraries or other components to work. A simple file deletion is enough to uninstall it.

Simple interface for scheduling PC shutdown

When it comes to the interface, the utility adopts a small window that displays all options available, so you can get an overview to quickly figure out what you have to do.Worth noting is that there is no confirmation option implemented. Instead, the application automatically starts counting down as soon as you select a date from the calendar and specify the time in 12-hour clock mode.It's possible to set the countdown as far in the future as you want. Apart from this timer, you can check out the current system time. Although there's no setting integrated for sending the tool to the systray to make it non-intrusive and let you carry on with your normal PC activity without any interruptions, it can be minimized to the taskbar.

Evaluation and conclusion

It didn't hang, crash or show errors in our tests. CPU and RAM consumption was minimal. However, it doesn't have a setting for notifying you of the shutdown action right before it happens, in order to give you the possibility to change your mind and cancel the task. Otherwise, Terminator gets the job done and can be easily used.
