What is PC Tools?

PC Tools : Check connection to specific targets by scanning range of IPs or sending pings, with a command line interface for thorough management of operations

In depth

A closer look at PC Tools

Although there are various applications out there with intuitive designs which aim to help you perform advanced operations, the Command Prompt is not dead, and still able to perform quite the range of operations. In this regard, PC Tools comes with several preset commands for network management, and more.

Simple interface quickly gets you up and running

With no installation required, the application can be launched right away. Registry entries are not modified in the process, unless you decide to use any commands which do so. Accommodation takes a little while, with a simple, yet intuitive interface featuring several tabs to quickly access all management areas, and a command line section which is always in plain sight. The application aims to help when it comes to network management, at least through a few basic ping controls. On the one hand, there’s the possibility to perform a ping sweep by specifying network to scan, as well as range. Note there’s no option to stop, or pause a process once started, unless you close the application.

Network tools, and commands

On the other hand, single pings can be sent to a specific IP address. You can choose to send continuous pings, or standard one. Results are shown in real time in the output window. The IP tools tab holds a few functions, which are nothing more than Command Prompt functions linked to specific buttons like IP Config, IP refresh, flush DNS, reset winsock, and reset TCP/IP.In case you need some extra system tools, the control panel tab lets you quickly access some popular locations such as network connections, Internet options, system properties, services, user accounts, device manager event viewer, and a few more. The Command Prompt is built-in, representing the lower half, with commands written inside a dedicated field.

In conclusion

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that PC Tools wants to combine all functions of the Command Prompt with a visual interface so that some network operations are handled at the press of a button. However, it’s nothing more than you can normally accomplish through default means.
