Sound Recorder is a tiny and portable software application designed to record audio from any source, save it to WAV format, and even play it.It does not include complex options or configuration parameters, so it can be used by anyone, even those with little or no previous experience in audio processing utilities.Since there is no setup pack involved, you can put the executable file in any directory on the hard disk and just click it to run.There is always the alternative to save Sound Recorder to a pen drive or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any machine with minimum effort and no prior installers.An important factor to take into account is that the Windows registry does not get updated with new keys, and no extra files are created on the disk without your approval, leaving the HDD clean after removal.As far as the interface is concerned, the main application window is small and has a plain layout with only three buttons. Recording starts as soon as you click a button, and can be stopped in the same manner.The output file is automatically created with a predefined name and location. Unfortunately, you cannot change these options. On top of that, Sound Recorder overwrites existing files, so you should be careful when managing multiple recordings. Playing the recorded sound is done just as easily. There are no other notable features supported by this software application.It does not put a strain on computer performance, as it runs on a very low quantity of CPU and RAM. Unfortunately, Sound Recorder failed to record several audio files during our tests, although no errors occurred (the output file was zero-sized). We must also keep in mind that the app has not been updated for a while.
