Disk2vhd is a tiny and portable software program that allows you to create Virtual Hard Disk files (VHD format) from physical disks, so you can use them in Microsoft Virtual PC or Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines (VMs).Since installation is not an issue, you can simply drop the executable file anywhere on the hard disk and run it directly.Otherwise, you can store it on a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, and run it on any computer. This way, Disk2vhd can be safe in your pocket wherever you go.What should be mentioned is that the Windows Registry section does not receive entry updates, and files are not left behind on the hard drive after removing it.The app is wrapped in a simple interface with a plain layout. The "what you see is what you get" principle clearly applies to the tool, as there are no other options available, aside from the ones visible in the main frame.Once you have established the output directory and file name for the VHD item, you can select one or more drives to include in the conversion. The list shows the label, size, free size and required space for each drive. Initializing the procedure is done with the simple click of a button.Disk2vhd includes thorough user documentation, has a good response time and takes a reasonable amount of time to create a VHD file, while using a very low quantity of CPU and system memory. Hence, it doesn't burden the computer's resources. We have not experienced any issues throughout our evaluation, since the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. All in all, Disk2vhd comes packed with the necessary and suffice elements for turning physical disks into VHD files.
