Ciellem SysInfo : A simple, yet useful tool that you can use to view details about the operating system, the number of drives, network connections and the available memory
Writing a functional program doesn’t just involve the code itself. Hardware components and other internal specifications are of great importance. However, you can easily find more about your computer through default Windows features, or relying on third-party alternatives such as Ciellem SysInfo.
Poor depth of info provided
On the bright side of things, it requires no installation to function, and you can take it for a spin as soon as download is done. Another consequence of portability is that you can store it on a USB flash drive in case you always need to have a system info reading tool at hand. Don’t worry about damaging the target PC because registry entries are not modified in the process. All system info the application can gather is displayed immediately after launch in dedicated fields. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really manage to provide more than default methods found in Windows. These details only include OS platform, full name, and version, total RAM, number of drives including removable ones, system name, network availability, screen resolution, and caps lock status.
Fun, but not enough
Furthermore, details are provided in grayed out fields, which means you’re not able to copy any of them. There isn’t an export option either. On the other hand, fields update in real time, but this mostly applies to number of drives, network, and caps lock status. It seems that an equal amount of effort is also invested in a fun side of the application. Apart from general system details, there’s the possibility to go on a little scavenger hunt inside the main window to find a secret code and trigger a reward. Impact is not so great though, and there’s little to no point in running it the second time.
In conclusion
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Ciellem SysInfo provides more confusion than actual helpful details. The depth of system info shown leaves a lot more to be desired, with no option to save fields. Not even the fun part can change your mind, with a high chance you want to look for alternatives.
