Crazy Desktop is a Windows desktop enhancement utility whose purpose is to help you customize your wallpaper and make use of several mouse pointers.

Not much to like about the GUI

The application doesn’t make a good impression in the visual department. The GUI needs a facelift in order to keep up with the modern looks adopted by up-to-date utilities.A help manual is not included in the package, so you need to experiment with the configuration settings to understand how the program works.

Wallpaper settings

Crazy Desktop offers you the option to display a user-defined Flash file (SWF file format) on your desktop. Plus, you are allowed to pick the wallpaper background color and desktop icon text color, select the movie quality, adjust the clip size, and pick the preferred position on the screen (e.g. center, right, left).You may set a custom image from your computer as a wallpaper background, provided that the file format is JPG, GIF, BMP, TGA, or PNG, as well as alter the photo position (e.g. top left, top center, bottom left, bottom center). The adjustments applied to the wallpaper can be previewed.A few settings enable you to automatically change the themes at a custom time (in hours, minutes or seconds) and run the utility at Windows startup.The app includes support for a built-in collection that you can use for applying mouse effects (e.g. flaming cursor, bubbles, love trail), animated background (e.g. aqua panorama, autumn leaves, globe), calendar, clock, and wallpaper slideshow.

Bottom line

All things considered, Crazy Desktop delivers a simplistic approach for helping you personalize the looks of your desktop and mouse pointers. On the downside, it hasn’t been updated for a long time, so several errors may appear on newer operating systems. We have tested it on Windows 8.1 Pro and noticed that the tool is not able to apply all the settings correctly.
