Background Changer : Change your desktop wallpaper automatically, set the rotation frequency, and specify the photo display type using this simple application
Background Changer is an OS enhancement tool you can use to configure desktop settings and automatically change your wallpaper. It comes packed with approachable options that can be tackled by all types of users.
Old, yet functional wallpaper changer
This application is practical for older Windows versions which haven't implemented the wallpaper auto-rotation feature by default. Before you proceed any further, you should know that it hasn't received updates for a long time and we've experienced compatibility issues with newer OS models.
Set pictures and the rotation frequency
The interface is user-friendly, represented by a standard window split into two tabs. You can indicate one or more directories with pictures to take into account for the wallpaper rotation, as well as tinker with settings when it comes to the resize type (e.g. center, stretched, fit to screen) and rotation frequency (e.g. minutes, hours). The current folder can be swapped for another one on the spot.
No setup required, besides .NET Framework
Background Changer's not wrapped in a setup kit. Instead, you can copy the downloaded files to a preferred directory on the disk or to a removable storage unit, in order to effortlessly run it on any PC. It doesn't make any changes to the system registry. On the other hand, you must have .NET Framework installed, since it was built with the aid of this platform. The source code is also available in the downloaded package and can be studied by programmers or those just interested in coding.
Evaluation and conclusion
It didn't put a strain on the computer's performance in our tests, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. Too bad that it hasn't received updates for such a long time that it doesn't run on later Windows editions. On top of that, it's not explicit concerning the supported photo file types. We've noticed that it works with JPEG and BMP.
