SmallMeasure : Measure the distance between any two points on your desktop by moving the corners, using this portable application that runs low on system resources
SmallMeasure is a small software application designed specifically for helping you work with a screen ruler in order to measure any two points placed on your desktop. It can be used for calculating the distance between two geometrical shapes or other figures. It can be deployed on all Windows versions out there.
Advantages brought by portable tools
You can open the utility by simply running the executable file because there’s no setup included in the process. In addition, you can get rid of it by deleting the files that you have downloaded from the Internet. It does not store entries in the Windows registry and leave other configuration files in your system. It actually saves the setup items on the target computer. You may drop it on pen drives or other portable devices to carry it with you all the time. In addition, you may run it without administrative privileges.
Unobtrusive running mode
You can find SmallMeasure running quietly in the system tray without disturbing your activity. A help manual is not included in the package but you can get an idea about how the program works in a short amount of time because the dedicated parameters look highly intuitive. Closing the utility can be done via the system tray.
How it works
SmallMeasure simplifies the measurement task to a child’s play. By default, it places two small points on your desktop which can be moved to the desired screen position using drag-and-drop actions. In addition, you are allowed to move the two points by keeping the left mouse button pressed and employing the arrow keys from your keyboard.Tests have shown that SmallMeasure carries out a task quickly and without errors. It does not eat up a lot of CPU and memory resources so the overall performance of the computer is not affected.
Final remarks
All things considered, SmallMeasure has to offer nothing more than basic features for helping you measure desktop distances, and is suitable especially for rookies. There’s no support for advanced parameters so you cannot copy the measurement results to the clipboard and view a virtual ruler displayed between the two points.
