Overview

What is CarbonNotes?

CarbonNotes : Easily create notes in with the possibility ot have them saved under custom formats and carried around on a USB flash drive with this app

In depth

A closer look at CarbonNotes

Time seems to be moving so fast because of the amount of things we want to achieve and accomplish. This is also why we forget important activities or events, but his can be solved using specific devices or computer applications to remind you. For instance, you can use CarbonNotes to leave text messages on your desktop so you don’t forget thing anymore.

Visual design and portability perks

A neat advantage is that you don’t even have to install the application on your computer for it to properly work, giving you the liberty to carry it around on a USB flash drive. The computer you later on use it on remains intact, because registries are not a dependency, thus there’s no need for them to be modified.Every time the application is launched, a new note shows up on the desktop. The general design is a futuristic style interface, but even if it looks good, takes up too much space of the already compact text field, and it can’t even be resized. However, one of the elements is the place from which to quickly launch new notes, open existing ones, save, or replace custom text strings.

Leaves more to be desired

Saving files is not done under a specific format, because you need to manually write it down, which means it’s all up to you what file you save. Sadly, there’s no real reason to save in anything other than TXT, because text formatting is not supported by the application, and the font used to write notes can’t be manipulated. What’s more, if the text is larger than the visible field, you need to use keyboard arrow keys for navigation, because there’s no slider, and the mouse wheel isn’t going to help you here either. Minimizing a note sends it to the system tray, but each note creates its own icon. What’s more, you can’t actually save notes, because once one is closed, the text inside is also discarded.

In conclusion

consideration, we can say that CarbonNotes comes with good intentions, however, it’s able to provide even less that what once default Windows Gadgets were able to put at your disposal, and are only handy for things that occur in a short time, because once the application is closed, everything is lost.
