ColorFOff is an easy-to-use piece of software that gives you the possibility to pick any color from the desktop and find out its hexadecimal code. This way, you can collect favorite colors and easily insert them into in your web design or graphic editing projects.

Needs .NET Framework to work properly

The app isn't packed in a setup file, so you can copy it anywhere on the PC or store it on a USB flash drive to effortlessly launch ColorFOff on any computer. However, make sure that .NET Framework is installed or it won't be deployed.

Easily capture color hex codes

Once fired up, the color picker shows a small panel on the center of the screen, which stays on top of other opened windows (this option cannot be changed).To capture the color at the current mouse cursor position, press Ctrl+Alt+C. It will be displayed in the main window, along with the hex code, which can be selected and copied to the Clipboard.System resources were minimally used in our tests, so the utility doesn't put a strain on the computer's performance.

Lacks richer options and configuration settings

Unfortunately, this is where ColorFOff's functionality ends. It would've been useful if it integrated an option for changing the default hotkey for capturing colors, a magnifier glass that accompanies the mouse cursor to get a better view of the colors, as well as a feature for keeping multiple hex codes recorded in the main window for later export.

Elementary color picker with little to offer

All in all, ColorFOff is an unpolished application with simplistic options for capturing desktop colors to use their hexadecimal codes. It leaves a lot to be desired. We must also take into account that the software project hasn't received updated for a considerable amount of time.
