Gamma Web Browser (formerly FireWire) : Access your favorite web pages in the blink of an eye with the help of this lightweight, straightforward and easy to use software application
Web browsers are the main gateways to the information superhighway. There is an abundance of options at your disposal, each trying to come up with useful new features. Gamma Web Browser is one of them and keeps everything to a minimum in order to provide almost instant access to your favorite pages.
Lightweight and easy to use
When installing this application you need not worry about your system's configuration, as you only need roughly about 500 Kb of space on your hard disk drive and CPU used is nothing your machine can't handle.A simple interface is brought up once you run it. Except for the title bar, nearly all space is dedicated to page content. And upper toolbar is fitted with the address field, as well as necessary navigation options.
Straightforward with limited features
Other than basic functionality, the application is capable of little more. For starters, the only way to access multiple pages simultaneous is by having other instances of the application running, because of the lack of implemented tab support. Each time it is launched, one of the most commonly used search engines greets you, with no possibility to change the home page, nor return to it, unless the address is manually written down in the dedicated field.Furthermore, there is no integrated feature capable of tracking visited pages, nor storing any of them so you quickly gain access. Needless to say that there is no available bookmarks manager to handle favorite pages.
To end with
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Gamma Web Browser is a poor choice if you decide to replace the application you use to access the Internet. Speed is a strong feature, and probably the only one, but it does not compensate for missing elements from which a powerful web browser is made of.
