Many users feel the need to lower their desktop brightness or alter the color balance late at night, but it may also be necessary to change the current background after a certain time.Sun and Wallpaper is a relatively simple application that runs in the system tray and can automatically cycle between two background images based on the time of day. It could use a couple more features, but it does the job.

Easy-to-use wallpaper changer based on sunrise/sunset time

Once the application is launched, it will be minimized to the system tray. You need to select the images that should be set as the background during daytime and nighttime, as well as choose the wallpaper style.The program changes these backgrounds based on the local sunrise/sunset time, so you also need to enter your coordinates; this isn’t too difficult, and the added bonus is that the app doesn’t gather location info without your knowledge.

Interesting application that could use some enhancements

The one feature I would definitely like to see in future releases is the ability to add multiple images to the day and night lists and have the application select one at random or cycle through them.It would also be great if the program allowed you to set the wallpaper change times manually, and many would probably prefer to have the option to let the application detect your location automatically.

No-nonsense wallpaper changer that doesn’t get in your way

Sun and Wallpaper is very simple to deploy, as you don’t need to install anything. Just launch the executable file, open the system tray menu and select your wallpapers. The application is very unobtrusive, and we didn’t run into any issues during our tests.For future releases, the most important addition would be an option to add multiple images that the application can cycle through, as switching between only two wallpapers can get repetitive.
