flckr is a simple-to-use application designed for the Adobe Air platform, which enables you to look up photographs on the Flickr file hosting website by tag or keyword.

Simple setup and interface

The setup operation is speedy and shouldn't give you any trouble. This is actually the standard installation for all programs specifically made for Adobe Air.When it comes to the interface, the app sticks to a single window with a simple design and neatly structured layout, giving you an overview of all options put at your disposal. Therefore, you don't have to depend on multiple windows to be able to perform tasks.

Look up Flickr photos by tag or keyword

The Flickr tag or search term can be entered in a small box placed on top of the frame, and the action can be confirmed by either clicking on the "Search" button or by hitting the Enter key. Results are quickly displayed and you can scroll the window to explore the images, or resize the frame to get a better view of all items.

Where it falls short

The utility doesn't implement features for opening Flickr photos, extracting them to the disk, launching them in the web browser. Instead, it shows the thumbnails of all matched photos, along with the artist names. This way, you should be able to look up information on Flickr in your web browser, without having to resort to flckr.A printing option is available in the right-click menu of any selected thumbnail. If you have a PDF printer installed, you could create PDF documents. Unfortunately, according to our tests, the printed pages or PDF files contain merely a caption of flckr's entire window (with all visible thumbnails).

Evaluation and conclusion

Unsurprisingly, it had minimal impact on the computer's performance, using a low amount of CPU and RAM. It remained stable throughout its runtime, without freezing, crashing or prompting errors.On the other hand, flckr has a short set of features for exploring Flickr photographs, without integrating additional options for viewing or saving full photographs.
