Simple Hash Generator : Easily generate MD5, or SHA-1 checksums out of custom text input which you can either write, or paste, while results are generated in real time, and sent to clipboard
The system performs different background checks on files you just download through a specific type of code, known as checksum, or hash sum. With several existing algorithms, codes vary in strength, and can be created for almost any kind of digital data, including text. For this purpose, Simple Hash Generator comes as a small tool with which to generate hash sums from text.
Lightweight, and easy to use
A good thing about it is you don’t even have to go through the effort of getting the application installed to make it work. This means it’s good to go right after download, with the possibility to easily carry it around on a thumb drive. Moreover, registry entries are not modified, thus keeping the target PC intact. With the application launched, a compact window shows up. You get to grab the code in only a few seconds from launch, because of the intuitive, quick overall processing. Since the application only works with text, there’s a dedicated input field in which you can either paste strings, or write text directly.
Select algorithm, convert, and export
The checksum algorithm needs to be specified for any output to be generated. This is done from a drop-down menu, with options like MD5, and different SHA variations. Result is generated as you type, or instantly shown once you paste text. It can then be sent to clipboard at the press of a button. It’s a little disappointing that there’s no built-in function to have code generated for files as well, considering the variety of supported algorithms. What’s more, text needs to be manually inserted, because of the lack of a function to read text from a document.
To sum it up
All in all, Simple Hash Generator is a straightforward utility which helps generate hash sums for text input. Different algorithms can be used in this regard, with results sent to clipboard at the press of a button. It would have been useful to generate code for files as well, but the overall impression makes it worth a try.
