Drive Locker is a portable and straightforward piece of software that you can use to quickly lock selected drives on your computer, to deny access to unauthorized users.It comes in handy whenever you share your personal computer with multiple people, or if colleagues have access to your PC at work.As installation is not a prerequisite, you can drop the executable file in a custom location on the hard disk and just click it to run.It is also possible to save Drive Locker to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, so that you can run it on any computer with minimum effort.What's worth taking into account is that the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, and files do not remain on the HDD after removing the utility, leaving it clean.The interface is represented by a small frame with a clean aspect, where you can select a drive from the drop-down menu and click a button to lock it. Unlocking it is done in a similar manner. From this point on, an error dialog pops up every time an attempt is made to open the drive in question.Note that Drive Locker cannot lock the drive that has the operating system installed. There are no other options available through this tool.The application runs on a very low amount of CPU and RAM, so it does not affect the overall performance of the computer. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since Drive Locker did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs.Although it's not the most resourceful program available, Drive Locker serves its purpose and can be handled even by novices, thanks to its overall simplicity.
