Access Forbidden! : Keep your desktop a private place by locking down your screen with a password or using a pen drive as a key with the help of this lightweight utility
Malicious applications are not the only threats to your computer's privacy, especially when most of your work colleagues have a peculiar sense of humor. In situations like these, applications such as Access Forbidden! come in handy by locking down your screen and securing it with a password only you know.
Hidden in the system tray until needed
Without a main window, the application spends most of the time minimized to the system tray, so that no precious space is occupied on your desktop or taskbar. All options you can set are easily accessed by right clicking on the icon, with a context menu being brought up.Locking down your computer's screen is done by clicking on the same icon. Three wallpaper options are available, and you can choose to keep the current one, a gradient or grey background. Additionally, the password can be changed from the same context menu, with the requirement for the one in use, a new password and a confirmation field.
Use a pen drive to unlock your screen
One of the most important features is the “Key drive”. It enables you literally use a pen drive as a key, the screen only being unlocked if it is connected to your computer and the correct password is typed in.This comes in handy, seeing how the “Access” button only becomes available if the correct security key is typed, while the text displayed in the background is highlighted, increasing the risk of someone accidentally guessing your password.
In conclusion
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Access Forbidden! Is a neat security tool that can keep your desktop safe from pranksters. Unfortunately, the application is pretty straightforward, with no integrated hotkey support to quickly lock the screen, nor the possibility to schedule processes. However, it manages to do its job good, making for a reliable utility.
