PortablePGP provides you with an intuitive application that can encrypt and decrypt texts and files, in order to protect your private or important information from being intercepted by others. Relying on the OpenPGP standard, it comes with a series of hashing, compression and cryptographic algorithms that work together in order to make the input files or texts impossible to decode.At the first run, you are prompted to generate or import a new private / public key pair, in order to make the application work properly. This process requires you to specify your name, an e-mail address and a custom passphrase that is then used in the encryption process.The main interface is neatly organized, offering one-click access to all the features. The application is capable of encrypting a locally stored file, as well as texts. In the latter case, the generated PGP message can be either copied to the clipboard or saved as a plain text file.The decryption process is rather similar. You must browse for the input file or paste the encoded text in the designated box, press the 'Decrypt' button, enter the passphrase and let the application do the rest. The original text is displayed in a separate window, once the signature is verified.PortablePGP also helps you in situations when you need to sign a text message. The output can only be decoded if the person you send it to knows the passphrase. Alternatively, you can generate a detached signature file and verify its authenticity with just a few clicks.All the created public and private keys that are used in the encryption procedure are stored in the 'Keyring' section, from where you can manage them much easier (delete, search key from a public server, export the list and so on).Adopting a forthright approach, PortablePGP is a reliable cryptography tool that can be used for securing your documents.
