Personal Data Security (PDS) is a software application developed in Java, which enables you to encrypt files and folders using passwords. It's capable of generating secure credentials and highly random encryption keys, and it features a manager for the credentials.To get this tool up and running, you have to make sure that Java Runtime Environment is installed on your computer. It can even be set up on a USB flash drive to effortlessly run it by just plugging the device into another computer.

Get started by building keystores and adding keys

As far as the interface is concerned, Personal Data Security keeps things clean and simple. To begin, you can put together keystores that will hold the keys required for encryption. Each keystore must have its own name and a password of minimum six characters.When creating a new encryption key, you can set a reference, algorithm and key size (128 AES, 64 or 192 DES/3DES) and password, as well as associate it with an existing keystore whose credentials must be entered. It's possible to create as many keystores and keys as you want.

Encrypt files, folders and notes

Once the keystores and keys are set, you can encrypt files and entire folders by selecting the saving directory, picking the format between base64 and binary, and by assigning a keystore, key and key credentials. Encrypted items receive the .pds file extension and can only be decrypted using Personal Data Security (PDS).Worth noting is that the original files are not deleted by the program after encryption or decryption.
