KR-DiskClean : Have your computer cleaned to bring back performance and clean functionality by removing junk files in a straightforward, automated process

In depth

A closer look at KR-DiskClean

Long-term use of your computer can fill it with many files which you don’t necessarily need anymore. Leftovers can also end up on your computer when removing programs, which on the long run can affect overall performance and stability. Luckily, applications like KR-DiskClean are here to solve these issues.

Shallow set of options

Once the application is installed, you can run it to clean your computer. It’s recommended to create a system backup so you don’t run into any compatibility issues after files get removed. This operation needs to be manually performed, because there’s no built-in option in this regard. The interface is pretty intuitive, with a bunch of available operations to access general settings, start the cleaning process, and access extra tools. The latter category provides quick access to several Windows default features, such as Scandisk, defragmenter, and scanreg, which, unfortunately, is only available in Windows 98.

Leaves much to be desired

The set of configuration options aren’t abundant either, and only let you select the options to clear the History folder, and empty Recycle Bin. Unfortunately, there aren’t any other controls or possibility to thoroughly choose which folders to clean, such as the temp folder, browser history, and such.Starting the cleaning operation brings up a progress slider to let you know when done. However, there’s no log of events to show which files are processed. More than that, the application has high chances of hanging right before finishing the operation, which can force you to close it via the Task Manager, with no files cleaned at all.

To end with

Taking everything into consideration, we come to the conclusion that KR-DiskClean comes with good intentions, but isn’t quite fitted with the right set of options to help you get rid of junk files, at least not on modern Windows iterations. Even if run with administrator privileges, the application fails to deliver the expected results, having a considerable impact on overall practicality.
