DSE : Have important files encrypted through the AES algorithm and based on a generic file so only you have access to its content thanks to this application
Data on computers can easily be accessed if not properly secured, and there are various methods of data extraction against which an antivirus program has no power. However, there are methods to add more security to files of interest, and one method in particular is encryption, which you can easily perform with DSE.
Encryption based on a generic key file
First of all, you can see what the application can do for you from the moment download is done, because there’s no setup involved. Moreover, it can easily be stored on a USB flash drive to serve as your personal encryption method, but be sure that the computer you use it on is fitted with .NET Framework, because it’s mandatory for functionality.A pretty clean and simple window shows up on launch. Most of the space is where all process details are shown, which also displays any errors or info to help you better define a process. You might need a bit more files than just the encrypted one, because the application doesn’t rely on a password, but rather on a key file.
Encrypt almost any kind of file
There’s not really a limit to the type of file you can encrypt, and you select it from the open menu, because drag and drop is not supported here. In order for the encryption process to be successful, you also need to load a generic file to act as the key. It’s highly recommended not to make any changes to the key file to be able to decrypt data.Needless to say that decryption is mostly a similar process. You need to load the key and encrypted file, and just hit decrypt. A browse dialog shows up to let you specify a save location for decrypted content. The application relies on the AES algorithm.
In conclusion
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that DSE is a straightforward encryption program. Although it doesn’t seem to offer any advanced functions, or the possibility to use a different algorithm, it’s sure to add extra security to files of interest, because the key file is what makes it close to impossible for others to decrypt content.
