DivHash : Calculate checksums for a file or text string at the press of a button with different algorithms to use and results instantly displayed
The computer recognizes a file by a lot more than just extension like you do. Download sessions are confirmed though these codes, and even retrieved in a search operation. These are known as hash codes or checksums and with the help of specialized applications like DivHash you can easily determine it using various algorithms.
Can be used on the go
One of the main advantages is the lack of an installer, which saves you both time and effort, and lets you take it for a spin from the moment download is done. Furthermore, you can store it on a thumb drive and carry it around on a thumb drive in case you need to use it on other computers without affecting stability because registry entries are left intact. The visual design is pretty intuitive, allowing individuals of all levels of experience to quickly get the hang of things. Each algorithm comes with its own output field, as well as a corresponding checkbox to decide the activation state. Input options are in the same window, while selected codes generate at the press of a button.
Calculate multiple types of checksums
You can either generate checksums from a file or custom text strings. Text needs to be written or pasted inside the input field, because it can’t be extracted from documents. As far as file input is concerned, you can only process one file at a time, and loading it needs to be done through the browse dialog.Once you hit the “calculate” button all selected checksums are displayed in the dedicated fields. Sadly, there’s no export option so you need to manually copy each string of interest. The application doesn’t integrate in the context menu for faster approach, but there is the possibility to assign a hotkey command to the shortcut from the properties panel.
On an ending note
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that DivHash comes with support for an impressive variety of checksum algorithms, and can instantly generate for multiple ones at a time. On the downside, export needs to be manually performed, and you can process only one file at a time.
