Phile Shredder : Make sure files are forever gone from your computer by having them removed using a strong algorithm which you can configure with this powerful app
If you simply decide to remove a file from your computer, it first goes to the Recycle Bin. However, even if you empty it, they can still be brought back using some specialized applications, but this doesn’t always apply. For instance, using Phile Shredder you can rest assured that once deleted with this app, files can no longer be recovered.
A couple of shredding modes
On launch, the application brings up the main window, with several neat animations that quickly grab your attention. Although pretty compact, it manages to get you quickly familiar with what it does and how.The application can be used on two modes. The first is through the main window, where you can choose to either pick files one by one, or an entire folder. The second minimizes the application to a small box, which is used as a drop point for target files, shredding them on contact. Note that drag and drop is not supported in the standard mode.
Set removal strength level
In case you like the second mode better, you can configure it so that it launches that way every time. Sadly, the application doesn’t integrate itself in the system context menu to trigger shredding even faster, but available methods are fast enough.File shredding is not a new thing, and there are multiple algorithms that are used for this task. However, Phile Shredder doesn’t quite tell you which one is used here, but there is a dedicated slider that can be configured up to 35, which represent the intensity at which the process is handled. You can also make the application remember this level, so you don’t have to configure it each time.
In conclusion
Bottom line is that the computer is not a safe virtual space anymore, and if you’re sure you want to delete a file, you better make sure it’s gone forever from your computer. In this regard, Phile Shredder comes with the right means to be used by anyone, regardless of experience.
