InterestCalc : Allows you to calculate investments, compound interest, increment deposits and view the interest generated with this powerful application
There are several options for making financial investments and making returns based on the interest, yet the process can be complicated for some people, so there are several tools to help. InterestCalc is an application that allows users to make advanced calculations to aid with interest based investments, as well as calculating compound interest returns.
A simple, purely functional display that operates in a single, non expandable window
The design of InterestCalc is extremely minimalistic and based entirely around functionality, there is no effort to make it modern or stylish, not that the program necessarily needs that. All the features and options are contained within the main window, although the options just revolving around text fields and entering different figures. The layout is spartan, yet not automatically a detriment, and, for those who want a professional tool without any frills, it works perfectly. Unfortunately, the simplistic design also extends to the application's support, with little to no help documentation for the program, to help users who want any explanation of its features.
A decent array of features, but no visual representation of the results means it can be awkward
There is no doubt that InterestCalc covers the major areas when it comes investment and interesting, with all areas of investment and interesting revenue covered. The results are displayed at the bottom of the application in a scrollable area, unfortunately, it can be a bit difficult to read and it doesn't present the information as clear as it could. The inclusion of graphs and charts, such as a bar graph, would make the program much more accessible and its results much clearer. The heavy text approach might be in keeping with the professional, minimalistic design, but it is not ideal and several users might take an issue with it.
A functional application that handles the various aspects of interest based investment
While InterestCalc clearly handles any investment, interest based calculations, it could be presented in a better format. If more effort was put into the results, making a few visual representations of the figures and making them more accessible, InterestCalc would be a more much useful and user friendly program.
