In depth

A closer look at FinanceCalc

Since everything revolves around money, it’s a good idea to be aware of all changes in rates, especially when making transactions between different currency types. To help you out, applications like FinanceCalc provide updated details on financial rates based on the European Central Bank.

Detailed view of currency evolution

The application only takes little of your type to get installed on your computer. However, for this to be possible, you need to make sure that Adobe AIR is on the computer you use it on, even to get the application up and running. With the main window up, you have the possibility to get a look at three different types of details. The first tab is for daily rates, which also comes with a currency converter. A large variety of currency types can be selected from a table to view rates, but the central space already shows a detailed graph, with a tooltip for more info showing up on mouse hover.

Accurate data, and history view

The currency converter is pretty easy to use, only requiring you to select source, and target formats, and write down a value of interest in either of the two fields. You can go back in time in the second tab in order to view history rates. The design is similar with the daily rates tab, but here you have the option to select a different date for results.Last but not least, a single currency item can be studied in greater deal under the history rates line chart. As the name suggests, details are neatly spread across the course of several months, letting you analyze evolution status. A side panel lets you easily select the currency of interest. The whole experience is best used on a computer with an active Internet connection, so the application can properly retrieve results. Unfortunately, there’s no built-in export options, so you need to take a screenshot in case some values are of interest.

A few last words

To sum it up, FinanceCalc is sure to come in handy when changing currencies or performing international transactions. The visual design is neat, providing both the comfort, and level of detail you’re looking for. Details are updated constantly via the web, letting you analyze accurate data over the course of multiple months.
