Process Guard : Secure your system and security programs from being attacked by other processes
In depth
A closer look at Process Guard
Securing your computer is a more difficult job than you'd be tempted to believe and installing an antivirus or a firewall is not at all enough to stay on the safe side.Process Guard is one of the tools supposed to lend you a hand in this regard, trying to add a new security layer to your computer in order to block threats and malicious files. There are many infections out there in the wild that attempt to disable antivirus protection and firewalls and, in most cases, they even succeed in doing that.Process Guard promises to defend the computer and block these attempts, giving you the option to stop in their tracks the processes that might have a negative impact on your machine.Although it has been gifted with very strong features, Process Guard relies on a very simple and clean interface, with just a few options displayed in the main window, thus targeting both beginners and experienced users. The main screen gives you the option to enable protection and learning mode, which is actually a way to teach the app to allow certain types of executable files to run on your computer. In addition, there are also some additional goodies, including the ability to protect physical memory and to block global hooks, rootkits and registry DLL injection, but these are only available in the full version of the app. There's no settings menu which is indeed great news for novice users, but the popups that appear every once in a while when new processes try to load might be a bit annoying for some of you.One of the things that are worth mentioning is the fact that Process Guard is quite challenging from the point of view of hardware resources, so it might stress the CPU and RAM, especially on older machines. All in all, Process Guard is worth a shot, but only because it's supposed to help users stay away from dangerous files.
